Context
ASLI is a verification platform that helps consumers confirm the authenticity of products — from luxury goods to pharmaceuticals — using a combination of physical tags and digital records.
Challenge
Counterfeiting is a trillion-dollar problem, but existing verification tools are fragmented, opaque, and often require specialized knowledge. Consumers needed something instant, trustworthy, and frictionless.
Thinking
We discovered that trust isn't just about technology — it's about the experience of verifying. If the process feels complicated, people assume the product is fake. The verification flow needed to feel as simple as unlocking a phone.
Direction
Create a single-scan verification experience: one QR code, one screen, one clear answer — backed by a chain-of-custody system that manufacturers, distributors, and consumers could all trust.
Making
We built the mobile-first product UX, the verification engine, and the manufacturer dashboard. The identity system uses a minimal lockmark that scales from a 6mm tag to a full storefront display.
System
The verification chain connects physical tags, a cloud-based registry, and the consumer app. Each scan updates the product's provenance record, creating a living history that grows more trustworthy with every verification.
Outcome
ASLI partnered with 14 brands across fashion, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals in its first year. Verification scans exceeded 500K, with a 97% completion rate on first attempt.
Reflection
Simplicity is the hardest thing to design. We cut the verification flow from seven steps to one — and that single decision did more for trust than any technology we built underneath.
